We are The Young Band.
We make our home just outside of Indianapolis, IN.
Our music first came to life in the summer of 2014 when Will began writing songs. Before long, his collection flowed into the concept for his first album, and he asked his sister Melanie to join his music endeavors. In fall of 2015, Joylily made the duo a trio.
Since then, the band has performed at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, a summer camp for special needs kids, and our local Starbucks, to name a few. After professionally recording a 5 song EP that we planned to release in spring of 2016, and the subsequent decision to pursue a sound that represented us more accurately, we are now enjoying the adventure of recording our music in our very own studio. Between writing, recording, and performing, we have found our hands overflowing with awesome opportunities.
Genre? It’s not easy to put our style in a box because we didn’t intend for it to be. However, if we had to describe our music, it would be the euphony of acoustic grunge, indie, and alternative all coupled with heart-level lyrics. Whether it be a coffee-house or a band competition, we feel at home with our audience and invite them into the experience. The likes of Switchfoot/Jon Foreman, Mat Kearney, Brand New & Twenty One Pilots have all been a major influence on our music and, though they don’t know it yet, we are confident we will someday get to share a stage with them…(one can dream, right?)
Our goal is not to entertain. Yes, we’d like you to enjoy what you hear, but infinitely more than that, we’re singing a message of hope that speaks most profoundly to those who find themselves without it. Disillusionment can leave us in a vain search for something fulfilling, something that won’t disappoint. Our music is the story of that search and proof that brokenness is only the beginning of the masterpiece that is your life.
We can’t wait to share our music with you.
