(This is the fifth of 12 entries in a photo/story series we shared over on Facebook & Instagram. We wanted to share it here on our site for those of you who are flying under the social media radar or who are just plain itching to see it again.)
The starry night sky, a dark parking lot & broken dreams set the back drop for this song.
In terms of sound/theme, I’ve always thought of it as the baby of Mat Kearney spoken word & Jumper by Third Eye Blind.
It was written to a friend of mine who refused to cry & allow herself to break down…which was honestly very hard for me to understand because I’ve always been the guy who will shamelessly cry during a movie, let alone while dealing with my own feelings.
Eventually, after fighting it, she did break down & cry. It brought relief to years of bottled up feelings.
I want to give permission to people to be broken. Our wounds become us & can’t heal if we keep them on the inside. So if you need to, please let it out. ❤️
